4th gen chevy nova for sale11/25/2023 There’s no word on how or if it runs, but I’m assuming that it runs. ![]() Here’s that Chevy 350 cubic-inch V8 with a 4-barrel carb which would have had 165 hp and 260 ft-lb of torque. The seller’s entire description is as follows: “1976 Chevrolet Nova SS car was purchased in Nevada absolutely no rust anywhere! All original ss 350 with 4 speed manual trans”. I can see a crack on top of the dash and what looks like some degraded plastic trim around the gauge cluster, and I’m guessing there are more issues or there would be more photos, that’s usually the way it works. This is it for interior photos, I know, disappointing. This car also has the coveted 4-speed manual. The SS package for the Nova in this era included a black mesh grille, a beefier suspension, and the steering wheel seen here – sans the aftermarket cover. In 1985, they reintroduced the Nova as the front-drive economy car. But a front-wheel-drive Nova?! These rear-wheel-drive cars would take a handful of years off while the X-body cars (front-drive Citation, Skylark, Phoenix, Omega, etc.) took over for GM. It became basically a rebadged Toyota which normally I’m all for, being a huge Toyota fan. The fourth-generation Novas were made for the 1975 through 1979 model years, after that the Nova fell hard. The Rally wheels were a part of the $187 SS package for the Nova. I’m not comparing it to some 650-hp custom first-generation Nova but for 1976 this was one nice car and it still is 42 years later. This is one sweet ride, there is no question about it. Come on, who doesn’t love an orange car? (hey, put your hands down in the back row, I saw that) It also is an SS and it has a 350 V8 and a 4-speed manual transmission. First off, it looks almost perfect, at least body-wise. Ok, maybe this isn’t a dream Nova compared to some earlier cars, but it checks quite a few boxes for me. The seller has it posted on Craigslist and they’re asking $8,000 for this tangerine dream. And, it’s orange! And, it’s an SS! This beauty is a 1976 Chevrolet Nova SS and it’s located in Houghton Lake, Michigan. 1965 was the only year you could get the Powerglide 2 speed automatic behind the 327. The combination of a light unibody and V8 power would become a recipe for success for Chevrolet for years to come and the SS would continue as part of the Second Generation Nova.As a fourth-generation car, and most people would say the last real generation of Nova, this car looks great to me. 1965 Chevrolet went one better and offered the legendary 327ci 元0 (250hp) or the L74 (300hp). A Muncie 4 speed manual was optional to back up the new muscle. By 1964 Chevrolet understood the demand and opportunity and the SS now had the vindicated option of a 283ci V8, with the 195hp 元2 version or the 220hp L77. 1963 was the only year you could get a convertible Nova SS. 1963 brought the Super Sport option to the Nova 400 model, which included an exterior trim package, Nova SS badging, and bucket seats. Part of this popularity was due to an over the counter kit for dealers to swap in the 283ci V8 small block for the stock 4 or 6 cylinder. Chevrolet had introduced the Nova as an economy line in 1962, and the light weight 2500lb body was an early favorite with hot-rodders. The first Nova SS was a performance variant that debuted in 1963 as part of the First Gen Nova /Chevy II.
